The museum

 

 

 

The Fine Arts Museum is now a municipal museum but was initially a private initiative, founded in 1864 by the Mulhouse Industrial Society. Its collections, which owe their existence to the generosity of the business leaders of the town, originally had a three-fold objective – to provide an idea of the history of art, promote French painting and support regional artists.
