Wallpaper Museum - History

Rixheim : over two centuries of wallpaper in a prestigious setting

Wallpaper has been printed in Rixheim, near Mulhouse, since 1797, when a young business from
Mulhouse set up printing works in what used to be a Commandery of the Teutonic Knights that was
taken over by the State in 1790. In 1802, it took on the name of Jean Zuber & Cie.
During the 19th century, the printing works took on an international dimension.
